Everyday Right?

OK, OK, so I said I would write everyday, well I am lucky to write a couple of times a week! Pretty sad, I know.

Nanci has a three day weekend this week. So, she made reservations in a hotel for tomorrow night in.... I can't remember! Some town by Montrose CO. Nanci, Tina and I are leaving in the morning for the western slope. Not sure just what we are going to do yet. Have an adventure! Looking forward to just being somewhere different tomorrow.

I'm loving my new iphone. I think today was the first day I didn't run the battery dead by 5pm.

Received an offer to pay off an old credit card that we owed $3K on for only $1K. Paid it yesterday. Few more things to still get paid off. It will feel so good to be debt free!

Turtle Attack!

Well all went well with AT&T and we received our phones on Tuesday. I have been trying to decide weather to port my old number over to the new phone or not. Nanci and Tina are not going to. I have had the same cell number for 12+ years. So, maybe it's time for a change. I need to tell Verizon tomorrow to cancel or port my number. Nanci was not too happy with her new phone so, we are going to exchange it tomorrow.

Kairi spent the night last night and the night before. She is always fun to have around! Nanci took Kairi shopping for some new fish for the fish tank. She said the turtles at the pet store scared the hell out of Kairi. What kid is afraid of turtles?

Nanci, Tina, and I went to dinner at Red Robbin tonight. They pretty much screwed up our entire order. They fixed it though and gave us a 50% discount.

The pay at my job sucks. It's half of what I was making at PetSmart. I need to find a venture to make some more income. I'm not coming up with any ideas.

For Fuck Sake, He's Still Alive!

Nice weather today! It reached the upper 50's I think. Nanci had the day off. We cleaned the hot tub and the fish tank. I swept the driveway off of all the dirt from the snow melting off the car. Cleaned out some of the empty boxes in the garage and loaded up a pile of stuff that was garage sale leftovers. Needed to get the cars washed, maybe tomorrow. It's should get up to 60 tomorrow.

Matthew went a little crazy on Friday. He was at our house, Lori and the kids came over to do laundry. Matthew has never wrote on any walls or furniture. That has just not ever been an issue with him. However, on Friday he went off the deep end and wrote on tables, chairs, walls, etc... in our basement. Guess he was mad at someone or something. I had a talk with him about how to handle being upset and how not too. I can only hope some of it sinks in.

On Saturday we ordered our iphones! Our plan with Verizon ends this month on the 22nd. I wanted to order them just before Christmas because they had some great deals. But, I had to wait until Nanci got paid on the 15th. Of course the phones we wanted then where out of stock. We ordered them online because we wanted the 32GB and they where only available as refurbished. The AT&T site advertises free overnight shipping! However, after I placed my order (which was a complete hassle and had to get some online attendant to help) I received an email stating that in order to avoid identity theft I needed to call some 800 number to verify my identity. So, I call and guess what? There hours are M-F 9 to 5. I have to wait until Monday to call.

Last night Nanci, Tina, Lori, and I went to McCabes Pub to see Biff Morehead (we worked with him at the Zoo). He had his second annual "For Fuck Sake, He's Still Alive" party. He is a cancer survivor. He is looking good. Last time we seen him he was getting pretty thin an looking very old. He is in his fifty's. He was looking like his old self again. Also, there was band playing called Young Austin and No Difference. Wow, can this kid play guitar! It was an unforgettable experience! He is only 15 and plays Jimmy Hendrix and Stevie Ray Von. He played several of his own songs as well. Here is a link to a video of a blues competition he played in, in Memphis TN. He got off the stage and walked through the audience playing and out the front door on the the street several times. He laid his guitar on people's tables and used catchup bottles as a slide and played. He was just awesome! I talked to his mother for a few minutes, he has a new CD coming out in a few weeks! Also, there was this old black man that showed up at about the third song. He started dancing and danced every song the rest of the night. How ironic, this skinny old black man dancing his ass off to some kick ass blues guitar played by some 15 year old white kid! This kid got a well deserved standing ovation from the whole bar. We bought his CD and Nanci talked to him for a little bit and got the CD signed. There is some great young blues talent in the town. There is another kid (18 years old) that plays the blues named Grant Sabin. He plays every Wednesday night at Nosh. He plays what I would call front porch blues. He has quite a few videos on youtube.com as well.

Pat Carter treated us to dinner tonight. We went to Golden Corral, and ate too much.

Hot Tub, Cigars and Drinks!

We had a cold front for the past few days. The high was only in the teens for 2 days in a row. We had very little snow, that's good. Nanci had yesterday off. She rearranged the house, it looks great. I like it when she does that. I just makes the house fell new and fresh. So, last night we lit a fire in the fire pit and sat in the hot tub when I got home from work. Then we stood around the fire pit and had cocktails and smoked a cigar. Very nice evening.

Kairi is spending the night tonight! She is just a kill!

Wow, just heard some glass break. Turns out the flood light above the kitchen sink just exploded, there is glass everywhere on the counter and in the sink. Nanci is closing tonight and Tina is making dinner. This computer is soooo slow. I can't wait to buy a Mac laptop!

Tina's Brithday and Dead Man

Yesterday was Tina's 20th Birthday. I can't believe she is 20! She needs to get her ass in school. She didn't have a very good day yesterday. She was a little grouchy. We had planned on going out for dinner last night. Nanci and Tina where not in very good states so, we stayed home. I felt bad that Tina had a crappy day. We ordered her a couple of things for her birthday and have to wait for them to get here. We are going to try to go to dinner tonight. We are going to a new place called Cheddar's.

Yesterday at work one of my tenants died. A couple of months a go an old couple rented 2 one bedroom apartments. She claimed he was killing her (mentally and emotionally) so they rented 2 places. Here apartment is on the first floor and his is on the second floor. Yesterday afternoon about 4 an installer for either the phone company or cable company was walking by is apartment and seen him lying on the floor through the window. Looks like it was a heart attack. I guess God gets first choice so he picks the quiet one and leaves the loud annoying one.

Today Tina said Kairi was running around the house singing "I go to Church for the easy chicks" Lyrics of song by a local band called SkyFox. She's so cool.

I'm going to finish my glass of wine and go to dinner.

Shopping in Boulder

Today Nanci, Tina, Kairi and I went to Boulder. We spend a few hours on Perl Street shopping. We went to a yogurt shop for a snack and headed back to the Springs. Then we had dinner and a movie at Lori's. Then Pat Carter came over to have me show him how to convert some images files. It's back to work tomorrow. It was nice having 3 days off 2 weeks in a row.

Lori baked her first loaf of bread today! It looked and tasted great! She called and wanted me to email her the recipe. I was driving in Boulder at the time. I have made this bread some many times I have it memorized. Here it is:

  • 3 Cups of Flour
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Yeast
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar or 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 4 Teaspoons Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 Cups -2 Tablespoons Water

Bake 350 Degrees 35 minutes or until golden brown.

1-1-11 Today

Nanci had to work today. So, I took here and planned on spending the day at the library in Castle Rock. Unfortunately the library was closed. I spent a couple of hours online in a coffee shop. But, it closed at 2. I spent the next few hours at Nanci's store until they closed at 6. So, pretty boring day in Castle Rock.

The weather was better today, still cold though. Kairi is spending the night again tonight. We are going to try to go to Boulder tomorrow again. Looking forward to that!

The UPS man is bringing a La Cloche on Monday. We back most of our own bread. We have been using a dutch oven, which works very well. We ordered 2 La Cloche's to back bread in. If I get a chance I'll post pics of our loaves.. they are pretty nice.

Chris's Dad was in ICU today for a while. They decided he has 4 strokes! They moved him to his own room later and Matthew told me he was coming home tomorrow?
